The Sultanate of Oman ranked 21st in the global peace index compiled here by US Global Peace institution. The award was received by Hunaina bint Sultan al Mughairiyah, the Sultanate’s ambassador to the United States. The ceremony was attended by former New Zealand prime minister Helen Clarke and representatives of 144 countries.

The Sultanate deserved recognition for being among “the most peaceful countries in the world” due to its contribution to the peaceful settlement of international disputes. The ceremony was held at the opening of the Global Forum of Most Peaceful Countries in the World. It was attended by Al Mughairiyah and the Director of Omani Centre of Investment Promotion and Exports Development (OCIPED
