His Majesty Sultan Qaboos will preside over the annual convening of the Majlis Oman (Council of Oman) at Hisn Ash’shumookh fortress today. His Majesty will deliver a Royal speech in which he will review the progress of domestic development and the steps made to achieve the objectives drawn out by His Majesty for Oman’s modern Renaissance, which focuses on achieving sustainable development, security, welfare and stability for the Omani people.

Work is already under way in Al Duqm Airport and expansion of Muscat International Airport, Salalah Airport and Sohar Industrial Port, among other projects. The annual convening of the Council of Oman will be attended by Royal family members, the chairmen of the Majlis Addawla and Majlis Ash’shura, ministers, advisers, commanders of the Sultan’s Armed Forces and the Royal Oman Police, members of the two majlises, heads of diplomatic missions accredited to the Sultanate, shaikhs, dignitaries, editors-in-chief of Oman News Agency, and local newspapers and representatives of Arab and foreign media.
