The Gulf Cooperation Council Summit, due to take place in Kuwait in mid December, is expected to result in key resolutions for the advancement of GCC and Arab joint action, much like the Arab Economic, Social, and Development Summit hosted in Kuwait last January, said senior local and regional political and media figures yesterday. Omani Foreign Minister Yousef Bin Alawi Bin Abdullah, speaking in the country's capital Muscat, said that the summit would yield decisions that will benefit all the Gulf's people.The event is being held amid critically important regional and international developments, he asserted, adding that the delegates' discussions will focus on the global financial meltdown and the political circumstances in the region, as well as the Dubai financial crisis and other economic and development issues. He said that the GCC is one of the most important regional blocs, reflecting the Gulf countries' stance towards various issues in the Arab and international arena.Bin Alawi also praised the GCC's achievements during its member nations' leaders' rule, calling for further efforts to improve the quality of life of the Gulf people who have high aspirations of the coming Kuwait summit.
