What can I do in the event of losing my passport while travelling or living abroad?

In the event of loss or theft of any of the official documents, you must inform the nearest police station immediately and obtain a report stating the loss of an official document and then notify the Sultanate’s mission in that country. 

 

How can I enroll for one of the courses at the Ministry’s Diplomatic Institute?

The Diplomatic Institute is specialized in training only the diplomats at the Sultanate’s Foreign Ministry. However, the Institute may offer courses to employees of other governmental bodies.

What are the general documents exempted from the authentication fees?

 

  • Death certificates for Omani nationals who pass away abroad.

  • Omani nationals who are entitled to receive social security inside the Sultanate and abroad. 

  • A laissez-passer (travel permit/document) issued only once for Omani nationals who have lost their passports abroad.

 

 

What are the required procedures to complete the authentication of the Certificate of Non-Conviction?

 

A Certificate of Non-Conviction is issued by the Sultanate of Oman; the Certificate is obtained in order to be used outside the Sultanate. To complete the procedures of the authentication of the Certificate, the following steps must be followed:

 

  •  If the country is a member of the Apostille Convention:

The Certificate should be authenticated via the Sultanate’s Foreign Ministry by placing two seals on it.  This is done by:

  • Authenticating the Certificate by placing a normal seal (Arabic) at a cost of 10 OMR.

  • Authenticating the Certificate by placing an international seal (English) at a cost of 10 OMR.

Therefore, the Certificate does not need to be authenticated by another seal from the Foreign Ministry of the country you intend to visit, or from the mission of that country accredited in  the Sultanate of Oman, or from the Sultanate’s mission in that country. The Non-Conviction Certificate can be used both in the public and private sectors.  

 

  •  If the country is a non-member of the Apostille Convention:

The Certificate should be authenticated via the Sultanate’s Foreign Ministry by placing one seal only. This is done by

  • Authenticating the Certificate by placing a normal seal (Arabic) at a cost of 10 OMR.

Furthermore, you are required to authenticate the Certificate by placing another seal from the Sultanate’s accredited mission in the country you intend to visit or via the Foreign Ministry of the country you intend to visit.
